With immense pleasure, utmost honour and absolute pride, We announce that American Death Metal Masters - FUNERUS would headline the second edition of coveted event of Kolkata Deathfest, This Premiere Metal Festival of Kolkata would take place on September 12, 2015, at city of Kolkata! FUNERUS, need no introduction in World Underground. Formed way back in 1990 in Pennsylvania, USA (By Brad Heiple & Jason Foust), FUNERUS continued to play and spread venom of their brand of 'Relentlessly Dark & Swampy' Macabre Death Metal in most traditional way, be it old demos or "Festering Earth" full-length released in 2003 by Ibex Moon, or macabre classic of recent days "Reduced to Sludge" released in 2011. Infact their 2015 offering by Dark Descent Records that is 'The Black Death' 7" EP has been receiving superlative response for their oppressively dark and dense atmosphere and songwriting, evoking every suppressed human horror and anatomical dark psyche within its listeners. Fronted by Jill McEntee (Bass and Vocals) and with one of the most "Iconic Figures ever in whole of Death Metal History'" Legendary John McEntee (of New York Death Metal Gods - INCANTATION), on guitars, FUNERUS would headline this prestigious second edition of this festival, drenching Kolkata in rancid blood and splattering every fucking human bones! Funerus To Unleash Reduced To Sludge on November 22nd
October 2th 2011
At long last, Funerus returns with the highly-anticipated Reduced to Sludge. Violent and brooding, this eleven-track nightmarish beast solidifies their place in the annals of underground death metal. Reduced to Sludge is the second release from the Pennsylvania/New York based death metal band that features Incantation guitarist John McEntee, bassist/vocalist Jill McEntee and drummer Sam Inzerra (Mortician, Morpheus Descends). The album was engineered by Sam Inzerra, Jim Roe and John McEntee. Drums and guitars were recorded at Neanderthal Studios in Plainfield, New Jersey and the bass and vocals were recorded at Aries Studio in Johnstown, PA. Reduced To Sludge was mixed and mastered by Dan Swano (Bloodbath, Dark Funeral, Dissection, Hail Of Bullets, Opeth). The cover artwork was done by Dusty Peterson (Six Feet Under, Cattle Decapitation, Bloodbath). Funerus has made the track "Sound Of Oil" available for streaming on their Facebook page. Reduced to Sludge will be released by Ibex Moon Records on November 22nd. Jill McEntee comments on the album, "I feel we were able to capture the natural Funerus essence on this album. It continues in the same vein of the first album Festering Earth, in heaviness and songwriting. I think it will be well received."
Jill also had this to say about the band's upcoming performance at the Goregrowler's Ball in November where they will share the stage with the likes of Exhumed, Goatwhore, Suffocation and many more, "Funerus is happy to announce we will be playing the Goregrowler's Ball In San Antonio TX, which runs from November 18th to November 20th. This will be our first time playing Texas since we played in Austin back in about 2003. It's great to be part of such a killer line-up of bands this year. See you all there!" For more information on the fest, visit www.goregrowlersballfest.com
Funerus has also announced a brief run with Singapore's blackened death metal legends Impiety. Dates are as follows:

In other Funerus news, recording has been going well for our sophmore album. The new release will be titled "Reduced to Sludge". Anyone who was into "Festering Earth" will definitely like this follow up slab of sewage death! Hope to see alot of you on the road in 2010!
